R in r306 refers to Radio. As the name suggests this phone is meant for the people that love radio. However the phone has much more to offer than being just a radio. It was released in September 2008. It is a cost effective phone manufactured for the beginners. Despite being a cost effective phone it still comes up with a good and stylish design. It is a flip phone with radio dedicated keys on the external display. It is a light weight phone weighing only 93g with dimensions 90 x 47.9 x 15.8mm. The display type of the phone is TFT which supports 65k colours. The display size of the phone is only 1.9 inches which is pretty less for a flip phone but you would expect that because it has low dimensions and weight. It is available in Coffee Black and Champagne White colour.

Some people might think that standout feature of the Sony Ericsson R306 is radio so it might be a multimedia phone and for people that love the music. But this is not the case as it has extremely limited user storage memory that is 5MB and there is no memory card slot to increase the memory. However interestingly there is a cute little music player integrated which is capable of playing mp3 music files but one would guess there is no use of it with such a low user storage memory. The AM and FM radio comes with RDS and are capable of recording the broadcast. The camera might also be considered as another useless extra feature as it is only 1.3 mega pixels and the result is reported to be poor.

Sony Ericsson R306 does not support Edge so the internet can be only be surfed via GPRS; however, browser is not good enough to open heavy websites. Other connectivity options in the phone are Bluetooth to communicate with other devices and Micro USB to synchronize data with a computer. Other notable features integrated in the phone are picture editor, organizer, Track ID, voice memo, stop watch and predictive text input.

As mentioned above it is a cost effective phone so you would expect Sony Ericsson R306 price in Pakistan to be fairly cheap. When it was released in Pakistan, it had price tag that is so tempting to not let go of. However soon after its release it was discontinued after a few months as it didn’t meet the expected success in Pakistan due to numerous music phones already in the market at similar prices.
